40 minutes later as the smell of baking fills the house...
Gently lift the top. If the cake is sticking leave it for 5 minutes to allow the steam to release it from the mould.
Push a skewer into the fattest part of the cake (shepherds use this as a treatment for bloat) if it comes out clean the cake is done.
Dust with icing sugar according to the breed and try sticking currants to the head for eyes.
